About me

Music has always played a significant role in my life. Singing, piano and trombone lessons, touring and performing with choirs and bands, learning and experiencing the many inherant benefits of musical participation, and eventually finding my way towards the use of music as a powerful tool to build therapeutic relationships and support development, health and wellbeing.

I first learned of music therapy while studying music at the University of Glasgow and felt an immediate calling to the profession. I qualified as a Music Therapist in 2009 after gaining an MSc Music Therapy at Queen Margaret University and I have practised in Scotland ever since, firstly as a freelance therapist alongside music tuition, and then for 16 years with Nordoff Robbins Scotland and Nordoff and Robbins (UK), with over 10 years with management responsibilites.

In 2026 I returned to freelance practice. I offer integrated Music Therapy services to organisations across Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Greater Glasgow, and I offer individual music therapy, professional supervision and consultancy, and vocal, piano and music theory tuition, with in-person and online options. Having hosted work experience and student placements, and presented at conferences and training events, I also welcome enquiries from individuals who may be considering becoming a music therapist themselves.
